Experience
We’re here to help
Venetian blinds are available in a a wide range of colours, and it’s particularly important to find the right colour and shade when choosing between whites, greys and neutral colours. We have been creating custom venetian blinds in Melbourne since 1978, so you can be confident in our knowledge and experience. We will guide you through the design process, looking at all the factors to be considered, so that we can best advise you.
Style and decor of the room
The style of your home, the colour scheme and furniture, all have to be considered when choosing the right colour and finish for your venetian blinds.
Your new blinds should work with your home to enhance its character and feel, whilst delivering a solution that is both practical and beautiful. We will assess the existing colour schemes, furniture and current design or structural elements within your space so that we can provide the right advice.
VisionWood or aluminium
This is generally one of the easier decisions to make, as VisionWood and aluminium provide quite different looks when installed. Once we have a better understanding of your existing style and decor we can advise you accordingly on the most suited product for your space.
Both products are available in a wide range of colours. Using our design expertise we will shortlist those which we feel offer the best design solution for you.
Where should the blind be fitted - architrave or recess
Venetian blinds can be fitted into a window recess, or alternatively onto the architrave around the window. Both options have benefits, and we would go through these with you to show how they specifically relate to your windows.
Fitting into a window recess gives a clean look, with the blind being completely contained within the window opening. Venetian blinds only need a slight gap on each side to allow space for the header box to be fitted into the top brackets, so each slat runs almost completely across the recess, minimising light coming into the room from the sides of the blind.
If the blind is to be fitted onto the architrave, it can extend beyond the window opening, and therefore provide better coverage. This is ideal if you are wanting to block out as much light as possible.
Who uses the room, and how is it used
This is an important aspect which can easily be overlooked in the desire to achieve aesthetic perfection. We will discuss with you who uses the room, and how it is used.
For example, if the room is being used as a playroom for young children, we would be recommending a solution that is durable, easy to clean and of course child safe. We might therefore suggest VisionWood venetians as an option, but would probably steer away from long flowing sheer curtains.
In a study or family room, the priority might need to be on controlling the amount of daytime light entering the room so as to minimise glare on laptops, mobile devices and televisions. Venetians offer great light control options, so they would again be a product suited to that situation.
By fully understanding this type of point, our advice can be totally focussed on achieveing the practical requirements as well as the aesthetic.
Are pets a consideration
Do you have a dog that likes to look out of the front window ? How about a cat that likes to climb curtains ? We’ve even had a customer with a rabbit running around the house.
As pet owners ourselves (2 whippets, 1 cat and a blue tongue lizard at the last count) we understand that pets are an integral part of the family. So we will take the time to discuss your furry friends with you, and see if there are any particular habits that we need to consider when making our recommendations.
Custom venetian blinds represent an investment in your home that should last for many years. So get in touch with the experts and let our experienced team guide you through the process.
